Clutch

Navy Leather Clutch painstakingly handmade by me

I've disappeared for a while due to work commitments, a bit of interstate travel and catching a cold! Boo for me for catching a cold and having work commitments. But it was lovely to see my cousins in Sydney. I also gave them the nappy cake I talked about previously and they loved it!

I have managed to do some crafting while I've been away from the blog however. I completed my first leather clutch as seen in the photo above. I am really loving working with leather. It's not the easiest medium to work with but I'm really getting there. Slowly.

My friend asked me what I would sell it for, and I didn't really know how to respond. I mean, it took me aaages so how do I factor in the 10 hours I spent on it? I really need to speed things up before I can make a sustainable business out of my crafts.

Yay for you! Thanks for sharing :-) It's lovely, and I'm excited you're learning so many new things. You're right on the charging dilemma- it's all about being able to calculate your time, and then being able to make things in a short enough time frame to be a realistic price. But you'll get there, no doubt about it!

Thank you for your well wishes, Karin! Right now I'm getting my ring resized (was a tad too loose) so I won't get it back until the end of the week - I miss wearing it =/ I can't wait until I get to wedding planning!

Hooray for your leather clutch! I know how you feel about pricing - you have to calculate how much your materials are for each item and know how long each product takes to create - plus you have to include your hourly pay! Handmade items are always more pricey, especially if it's just you. Handmade is the way to go though =)
